Google announced new features for smartphones, cars, and wearables at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. These features include using Gemini for crafting messages, AI-generated captions on images, summarizing text through AI for Android Auto and access to passes in Wear OS.

The company’s Gemini implementation is receiving a lot criticism. But that isn’t stopping Google from rolling it out in a different context. Google announced that, starting this week in Google Messages, a new feature will be available that allows users to access Gemini within the app. The feature, which is currently in beta, only supports English.

Google has also released a feature that contextualizes group conversations and reads out long text messages. The feature, First announced last Month, offers quick answers to questions.

The search giant is also launching a few accessibility-related features at MWC. First, the company’s Lookout app, which helps visually impaired People with documents and food labels, will generate AI-powered captions to replace images that are missing or incorrect captions or alternative text. The feature has now been rolled out to all users worldwide with English support. Google updated its search results last year. Lookout with AI-powered assistantUsers could ask questions about images using the.

Google also announced improved screen reader compatibility for Lens in Maps. Users can point their phone’s camera around them and TalkBack will read information about places and signs.

Google has extended support for handwritten notes on Android tablets and phones using a finger or stylus. You can select from different pen colors and styles to highlight specific points in a text.

The company will also launch support for Spotify via an output switcher in the Android home screen. Spotify allows you resume listening to a podcast or song from one source. This feature was previously only available for YouTube Music.

Google has also updated the Fitbit app to allow data from other sources, such as AllTrails and Oura Ring. The app has been redesigned with a new look. A new three-tabbed design was introduced last year. The Today tab displays data such as steps taken, calories burned and floors climbed. And the “You” tab shows you data from different apps along with Fitbit’s own data.

This announcement also includes a few updates for Wear OS. Google Wallet passes such as boarding passes and event tickets can now be accessed directly from your watch. Using voice commands, you can also get directions to transit. What’s more, there is an option to mirror directions from the phone or get compass-guided navigation directions.
